While looking for a more robust replacement for my Bescor MP-101 Motorized Pan Head, I heard that Troy from Envisiongear.com was starting production on a complete line of Radio Controlled pan/tilt and combination roll mounts.

Upon request, Troy consulted with me as to what exactly the best system was to have designed. He landed on a 360 Pan/Tilt with self leveling mechanism built in.

The self leveling mechanism could be modified to accommodate a servo, a shock absorber system and a servo with gyro leveling control.

Once received, I opted to make this unit a servo only control for leveling on my mast system.

Shown here is the unit with the balancing tray being used to support the video downlink.

The reason this is possible, is because I opted to go with a servo to control the leveling. The beauty of this design is that there are so many options for almost any camera set-up.

Supplied with the unit was Black and white vinyl tape to hide the wires for the receiver which looks much better than the red tape displayed here.

Displayed here is a Canon XSI setup for a wired downlink to my laptop.

The Gimbal is large enough and adjustable to almost any camera out there.

The main camera plate is adjustable both forward and aft, for CG balancing  and entry pupil accuracy.

This adjustable feature makes it possible to do 360 panos in portrait mode.

Due to the high quality design of the gimbal it was imperative to protect it in an aluminum case surrounded by foam.

I purchased mine locally, but after speaking with Troy, he may offer a case as an optional purchase. Not a bad idea.

This particular set-up holds my batteries and downlink system.

Shown in the upper left, is a simple "L" bracket made of aluminum for our Canon S80 P&S

Finally, one of the best features of this design is it’s weight. Compared to the Bescor, it comes out much lighter, fully loaded.  For the extreme versatility, this gimbal offers, I could not be happier. In addition to the Bescor would be a heavy ball mount not shown in weight photo.

Troy’s service is excellent and works very closely with his customers. I’ve used his services in the past for photo editing as well as Smugmug web design.

I highly recommend this mount or any design Troy comes out with..
